The United States Marshals Service is the oldest federal law enforcement agency in the United States. Presidentially appointed Marshals in each of the federal districts oversee the functions of judicial security, fugitive investigations, witness security, prisoner transportation and services, service of court process, and other support operations in their respective districts.
